Deploy Nextcloud on Your VPS

Deploy Nextcloud on your VPS in one click. Your own private cloud — file sync and share, calendar, contacts, and notes, paired with MariaDB and Redis.

Nextcloud is the self-hosted alternative to Google Drive, Dropbox, and iCloud rolled into one. Sync files across desktop and mobile, share links with expiry dates and passwords, keep calendars and contacts off third-party servers, edit documents collaboratively, and extend it with an app store full of add-ons. Because it runs on your VPS, your files are yours — no storage tiers, no scanning, no vendor account.

Vessl deploys Nextcloud with MariaDB for its database and Redis for caching and file locking — the configuration Nextcloud recommends for real use rather than the bare minimum. Your domain is registered as a trusted host and HTTPS is configured for you, so the login page works on the first visit with the admin credentials from the deploy form.

Frequently asked questions

Why does this template ship three services?

Nextcloud needs a database (MariaDB) for metadata, and Redis provides the memory cache and file locking that Nextcloud asks for in production. Without Redis a working install still nags you with a performance warning in the admin overview.

Do I have to configure trusted domains?

No. Nextcloud rejects any hostname missing from its trusted list, which normally means editing config after the first deploy. Vessl registers the domain it assigns at deploy time, and re-registers it if you attach a custom domain later.

How much storage do I get?

As much as your VPS disk holds — there are no per-user quotas unless you set them. Files live on a persistent volume, so they survive redeploys and image updates.
