Deploy SearXNG on Your VPS
Deploy SearXNG on your VPS in one click. A privacy-respecting metasearch engine that aggregates 200+ sources without profiling you, storing searches, or serving ads.
SearXNG queries Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia, and 200+ other sources on your behalf and merges the results — so the engines see your server, not you. Nothing is profiled, no search history is kept, and there are no ads. You choose which engines to include, and readers get a clean interface with no tracking.
Vessl deploys it as a single stateless service with its config on a persistent volume. It is also a common companion to a self-hosted AI stack: point Open WebUI at it and your assistant can search the web without handing your queries to a search giant.

Frequently asked questions
How do I use it with Open WebUI?
SearXNG ships HTML-only output by design. Add `json` under `search.formats` in /etc/searxng/settings.yml — reachable from the Console tab — and restart, then point Open WebUI at your SearXNG URL.
Does it keep my searches?
No. SearXNG stores no search history and builds no profile. The upstream engines see requests coming from your server rather than from you.
Can I choose which engines it queries?
Yes — enable or disable engines per category from the Preferences page, or set defaults for everyone in settings.yml.
